My Cat Adopted Me!
May 12,2014
Feeling a void in my pet life, I made an appointment at a local no-kill pet shelter to choose a cat. I dragged my friend Mai along and we arrived at the shelter at the appointed time. After completing paperwork, we were shown into a room filled with kittens. Ok, so maybe there were only 20, but that's a lot for someone who didn't have even have one. I wanted a charcoal-grey, short-hair female kitten with green eyes. So, who came home with me? A black, shorthair male kitten with gold eyes. Go figure.
Ironically, a family was in a different area of the adoption room with a charcoal-grey kitten and they did adopt her. Mai and I sat on the floor in the middle of kitten heaven. Some totally ignored us or were too fearful to meet us. The curious ones came over to play with our shoelaces and crawl on our legs. There was one intrepid little kitty who came out of his cat box, proceeded to climb up my back with his tiny claws and nibble my ear lobe. And that is how a black, golden eyed kitten adopted me.

If they are going into an opening and their whiskers do not touch the sides, the cats know they can fit.
